The Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program provides over one hundred low-income households energy saving measures on a yearly basis. Weatherization is a direct grant to qualified households. Measures include, but are not limited to, insulation of attics, walls, basements, and crawl spaces, repair or replacement of doors, caulking around windows, health and safety measures and furnace work. Health and safety measures include the installation of smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and CO detectors. Furnace work ranges from clean and tune of the furnace to repairs and replacement if a heating system cannot be made safe. TCOC Weatherization crews and licensed furnace contractors do all of the work.
